Shalyn Fava

Shalyn Fava is a licensed independent clinical social worker who graduated from Boston College with a master’s degree in social work and completed her clinical internship at McLean Hospital. She has worked in several psychiatric hospitals at all levels of care: inpatient, residential, partial, and intensive outpatient programs with a focus on treating individuals with PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, OCD and anxiety disorders.

Shalyn is formally trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy and utilizes a number of other empirically based interventions (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to address concerns in a multi-faceted approach to therapy. She completed training through Postpartum Support International for the treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders focusing on supporting parents and their mental health throughout the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. Shalyn ran her own private practice prior to joining the SCP team.

Shalyn enjoys working with adults of all ages with a specific focus on treating adults with trauma-related disorders, relationship challenges, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, and anxiety.

Shalyn’s goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for healing and recovery to take place in. Building trust is an important part of therapy and she wants every individual she sees to feel heard and come away from each session with a better understanding of themselves and their experiences.

In her spare time, Shalyn enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, practicing yoga, and listening to music.
